Changes in store at Co-op
VILLAGE SHOP HAS NEW LOOK AFTER £125K
A VILLAGE supermarket has a new look after a £125,000 revamp.
The Central England Co-op store in Rothley has been transformed to make the store feel lighter and fresher.
The Loughborough Road shop received the makeover in recent weeks.
Paul Stilling, store manager, said: “The store has had a really big overhaul and we are absolutely delighted with how it has turned out.
“The new food-to-go area is a massive improvement and altogether it’s a really great offer for our shoppers.”
New self-checkout tills, a new customer toilet with a baby change station, a bicycle repair station, outdoor seating area, recycling bins and a free water dispenser have also been installed.
Mr Stilling said: “It has been a real boost and something nice for the team, who have worked so hard during the past 18 months of the pandemic. It feels like a real reward.
“It feels like a new store with a much larger entrance area, making it feel much more spacious and a more pleasant shopping experience.
“It has been lovely to hear such positive feedback from our great community who I would like to thank for their continued support and for their patience while we brought our new-look store to life.
“I hope they agree with us that it’s been worth it.”
The store team was joined by charity Active Together to mark the opening of the revamped store.
The charity arrived with its mascot, Zoom, which promotes the Daily Boost, aiming to encourage children to do 15 minutes of organised activity at school every day.
The revamp follows other investments by the Co-op in the area in recent months, with more than £900,000 spent on transforming stores including in Leicester, Leicester Forest East, Quorn, Wigston, Lutterworth, Whitwick, Loughborough, Coalville and Oakham.
