New August bank holiday slot for Americana music festival

LONG ROAD TO RETURN IN 2022 AFTER BEING HIT BY

A LEICESTERS­HIRE festival celebratin­g country, Americana and roots music has announced its first acts for 2022.

The Long Road will return from August 26-28 next year, after the 2021 event was cancelled due to the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Taking place at Stanford Hall estate, near Lutterwort­h, The Long Road promises to be an “unrivalled feast of a festival”, say organisers. gathering together a range of alternativ­e music fans for a joyous weekend in the great outdoors.

As well as almost 30 music acts, there will be displays and events to entice every kind of American muscle car and vintage motorcycle enthusiast, as well as an array of vendors to cater to craft beer drinkers and foodies with a taste for Southern hospitalit­y.

The line-up will include Sunday main stage headliners The Cadillac Three and Grammy Award-winning Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlativ­es.

LOCASH will be making their festival debut as an English exclusive, next to story-telling songwriter Brandy Clark. A crop of Country’s leading women from around the USA will include Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Sara Evans, Gretchen Peters, Sunny Sweeney and Cassadee Pope.

The Long Road will welcome singer-songwriter Rissi Palmer, host of the Color Me Country show on Apple Music Country. Other names revealed include Sarah Darling, Lilly

Hiatt, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, and Della Mae.

The festival will also feature acts from UK and Ireland’s homegrown scene. A variety of alternativ­e sounds from bluegrass, folk and UK country, come courtesy of Hudson Taylor, Callum Pitt, Morganway, Jade Helliwell, Jess Thristan, Flats and Sharps and Noble Jacks .

The Long Road made its debut in September 2018 and now the family and dog-friendly event has moved forward to the August bank holiday weekend for the first time.

“There’s something for every music lover across our four stages, from firm favourites to new discoverie­s, it’s all about showcasing just how broad country, Americana, and roots music is.

“Plus now that we’ve moved to the August bank holiday, there’s even more time to enjoy the beautiful setting of Stanford Hall in the Leicesters­hire countrysid­e. We can’t wait to welcome you back next year!”

Three-day camping and individual day tickets for Saturday and Sunday are now on sale.
