A MUM who is slimming down for a friend’s big day has decided to share the secrets to her success.

Shedding the pounds through a Slimming World scheme inspired mum Sarah Beszant to become a group leader herself.

Sarah was 12st 13lb when she started at the Narborough group and her aim was to get slim for her best friend’s wedding.

She said: “I’ve always struggled with my weight since having my children.

“I’m the maid of honour at the wedding next summer and I don’t want to be the only fat one!

“So far I’ve lost a stone-and-ahalf in just 14 weeks.”

Sarah, 38, who lives in Croft with her husband, Chris, and their three children, aged 11, 13 and 15, said the new diet had been a pleasant surprise for the whole family.

Sarah, who works in the control room for a 24-hour breakdown recovery company, said bringing in a new eating plan was also saving money and she is also able to make soup and healthy jacket potatoes to take to work for lunch each day.

She has had to give up some of her daily packs of crisps but, apart from that, it’s all been good.

She said: “I love my crisps and I used to always have three or four packets every day, and now I’m down to just one, but I never feel hungry and the meals are really popular with the family as well.

“We used to often eat different things but all the children like the food and having so many choices.”

Sarah was attending the meetings at St Pius’ Church in Leicester Road, Narborough, when a new leader was needed.

She has now taken on the role, leading the meetings every Monday, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Sarah said she was amazed by how much she has gained from the meetings – and how much she’s lost, too.

She said: “I was apprehensive going for the first time but I was made to feel so welcome.

“I’ve never felt so positive about my weight-loss journey.”

Describing her new Slimming World diet, she said: “I’m unable to eat dairy or gluten so I thought it might all be a bit difficult, but it hasn’t been at all.

“Planning the meals is fun and my 15-year-old son is using the Slimming World recipes for his GCSE work. It’s a win-win. They’re all surprisingly happy!”
