Court ban ends shop lout’s town-centre reign of terror
POLICE APPLIED FOR CRIMINAL BEHAVIOUR ORDER AFTER ATTACKS ON RETAIL STAFF
A VIOLENT lout who terrorised shop staff in Coalville town centre for several years has been given a jail sentence and a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Robert North, 35, of no fixed address, appeared in court on Tuesday and was issued with a two-year CBO.
This stops him from entering the Clock Tower Spar store in Ashby Road, and the Metro Store, in Marlborough Square. He will also be obliged to leave any other shop or commercial premises if asked to by staff or security and is barred from entering any shops from which he has already been banned.
The CBO was granted after police officers applied to the courts to raise concerns about his prolific offending and violence towards retail staff in the town.
Along with the CBO, North was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison for three counts of theft and two counts of assault between May and November of this year.
Inspector Richard Muldoon, of North West Leicestershire Neighbourhood Policing Area, said: “North has been

offending in the area for a number of years and we had no choice but to apply to the courts for the CBO in an attempt to deter his criminality.
“The CBO will come into effect when he is released from prison. “Staff at the retail premises he is banned from entering will be encouraged to contact the police if he breaches any of the conditions. We hope this order deters North, otherwise he could face a further prison sentence.”
