Leicester Mercury

Not always fan of boss but keep cheering City

-

WHO remembers the day Foxes fans made the earth quake?

Remember when we won the league? You, the fans in the stadium, still cheered our team even when the opposition scored. So cheer our team as you did then.

It is obvious that the change of style is because of a directive from Mr Rodgers.

He has obviously told them how he wants them to play, with no deviation from his tactics.

I, like you, am not a fan of some of Mr Rodgers’s tactics.

I, like you, want Kasper to get back to the kicking game we know he can play.

I, like you, want our team to stop playing zonal marking, as it is clearly not working.

I, like you, want our team to mix our game up and stop this incessant playing out from the back, which is also not working.

I, like you, want our team to pass and move in a forward direction as we know they can.

So, start cheering our team! Mr Rodgers has delivered a huge trophy, the FA Cup, which we have been trying to get our hands on for over a century.

He has stabilised our club to a point where we are no longer considered a yo-yo club and we fans are grateful to him for that achievement.

However, I, and many fans, take exception to his comments about us “punching above our weight”.

What kind of signal does that send to any player of quality wanting to join our club?

Not to mention the effect it could have on our players, who are already under pressure.

In my opinion what Mr Rodgers was really saying was: “You (the team) are playing as well as you can, so don’t get too bothered”

“After all, we are punching above our weight and I understand that you are performing at your maximum potential.”

Make a phone call to LCFC and complain. Make a phone call to Mr Rodgers and complain. Make a phone call to Top and complain.

And, again, cheer our team to victory!
