Care worker Jackie’s trip to Downing Street
A CARE worker has been thanked by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, at an event in Downing Street for her work throughout the pandemic.
Jackie Allen joined the council’s community response team in Januar, helping to prevent readmission to hospital.
Her work includes helping people learn to walk again, ensuring they can retain their independence.
She has been visiting people’s homes throughout the pandemic, including those recovering from Covid.
The Reception of Thanks for Social Care Workers was held at Number 10 for 50 people from across the country.
Jackie was nominated to be among them by her service manager, Rita Theim.
Rita said: “Jackie is a very dedicated member of staff who has supported individuals with Covid-19 or those who needed urgent care due to crisis at home.
“Along with other colleagues, Jackie travelled across Leicestershire

throughout the pandemic and has always been very positive and supportive to all individuals and their families.”
County council cabinet member for adults and communities Councillor Christine Radford said: “We know our social care sector workers regularly go above and beyond to keep Leicestershire’s residents safe and well.
“Their work has been more vital than ever over the course of the pandemic and I’m delighted Jackie’s work has been recognised in this way by the Prime Minster.
“I would like to thank all our care workers for their continued work to help protect the most vulnerable.”
