Curry Awards nominees announced
THE finalists in the English Curry Awards have been announced – with 23 Leicestershire businesses among them.
Winners will be revealed on August 22 at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport.
Nominees in the general categories are:
■ Nepalese Restaurant of the Year: Everest Lounge, Market Harborough;
■ Bangladeshi Restaurant of the Year: The Rickshaw, Ashby;
■ South Indian Restaurant of the Year: Kayal, Leicester;
■ Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year: Chai Paani, Leicester;
■ Restaurant of the Year – East Midlands: Everest Lounge, Market Harborough; Spice Bazaar, Leicester; Avatar Dining, Market Harborough; Gandhi, Castle Donington;
■ Curry Restaurant of the Year – East Midlands: Salim’s, Loughborough; Herb, Leicester; Spice Bazzar, Leicester);
■ Takeaway of the Year – East Midlands: Spice Bazzar, Leicester;
■ Takeaway and Home Delivery of the Year: The Cinnamon Lounge, Market Harborough; Simply Indian, Leicester; Flavours of Asia, Leicester; Hassan’s Balti, Leicester; Khyber Nights, Leicester; Desi Street Food, Leicester; Maharaja Takeaway, Leicester; ■ Chef of the Year – Midlands: Herb, Leicester; Everest Lounge, Market Harborough;
There is also a Leicester Restaurant of the Year category.
The nominated restaurants are: Herb, Kayal, Momma’s Kitchen, Chettinad Restaurant, Feast India, Naseeb @ The Clowes, Spice Bazzar, Santhi Restaurant, Teli’s Spicy, Chutney Ivy.
