AN on-demand bus service is to be expanded under a new provider.

Arriva Click, courtesy of Go Travel Solutions, was launched in 2019.

From August 1, the service will be run by Vectare, with new destinations and a regular shuttle service into the city centre.

The service allows people to book a minibus to a destination of their choice.

The booking is then matched with other people heading the same way, with passengers given a price and pick-up time.

The service currently covers New Lubbesthorpe, Leicester Forest East, Enderby and Narborough, but new destinations will be added including Narborough station to Leicester station and Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Vectare said a new bus route will run directly between New Lubbesthorpe and the city centre, with journey times of less than 30 minutes.

Councillor Ben Taylor, Blaby District Council portfolio holder for lanning delivery and enforcement and corporate transformation, said: “This is fantastic news for residents in New Lubbesthorpe and the surrounding area.

“It is great to see Go Travel Solutions and the Drummond Estate working so hard to provide regular, long-term sustainable public transport giving residents a reliable service with choice. “Arriva has shown since the launch of its Click service that innovation in public transport is popular with the public. “We’d like to thank them for providing this service for the last three years during the Covid pandemic. “We are now very excited to see the new Vectare service in operation from August and look forward to hearing feedback from residents.”
