Brothers revved up for car show
SUPERCARS ON WAY TO THEIR EVENT TO HELP COUNTY HOSPICE
A CAR enthusiast is putting on a motor show at Leicester Racecourse next month to raise money for Rainbows, which cares for his brother.
Shivam Nathwani’s life has been an endless treadmill of operations, physiotherapy and medication.
He almost died twice on the operating table and has been confined to a wheelchair since he was 10.
Although his visits are now less frequent, throughout his teenage years, Shivam, 24, of Birstall, went to Rainbows for respite and day care.
His brother Pritesh said: “Rainbows is really important to our family. When Shivam went to stay, it gave my mum a break.
“Rainbows always gave him a spark and we want to give something back to them.”
For Shivam, who relies on a ventilator 24 hours a day, Rainbows also gave him back his independence.
Because of his tracheostomy, the hydrotherapy pool at the hospice was one of the only places Shivam could swim safely, shedding the constraints of his wheelchair.
Shivam and his brother, Pritesh, are both avid car enthusiasts and Shivam has his own motoring YouTube channel called The Shivam Review (TSR), along with a strong social media presence (Instagram’s TSR_UK and The Shivam Review on Facebook).
To help raise funds for Rainbows, the pair have organised The Ultimate Family Fun Day and Motor Show at Leicester Racecourse on Sunday, August 14 between 10am and 4pm.
The event will include a range of motor dealers, as well as fun activities for children with food and drinks on offer.
There will also be a TSR VIP area and the TSR Lounge will play host to supercars and hypercars, where 10 per cent of the entry price goes to Rainbows.
The brothers say it “will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for car enthusiasts to take pictures” with these cars. Pritesh staged a similar event last month and raised £1,500 for Rainbows.
Shivam said: “I want to show the world you can achieve your dreams with any obstacle in place, this is my legacy and I want to make my family proud especially my late grandparents.”
Jenny Ball, Rainbows community fund-raiser, said: “This is a fabulous event organised by Pritesh and such a treat for motor enthusiasts.
“We hope people will go along and support him, which in turn supports us to be able to provide care and support to hundreds of children and young people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.”
Tickets to the VIP area are £12 for adults, £5 for under-17s. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £22.
