KILLING Eve star Jodie Comer is reportedly in the frame to play Coleen Rooney in a Channel 4 drama about the Wagatha Christie case.

Rebekah Vardy, wife of Leicester City striker Jamie, is reportedly set to be played by Emerald Fennell, who earned plaudits for her portrayal of Camilla in Netflix House of Windsor series The Crown.

Channel 4 announced last week it is making a part-documentary, partdrama, called Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama.

The roles of both Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy are close to being cast, reports The Mirror.

Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama will be made by production company Chalkboard, with sources suggesting the company wants big names to lead the cast and star as the warring WAGs.

Among those touted for the role of the victorious Coleen is Ms Comer.

A TV source told The Sun: “The creative teams are determined to

sign up major-league actors. Jodie and Emerald have the gravity to pull off performances as two strong women locking horns in court. This is a race to deliver a serious depiction of the chain of events that saw the Wagatha case end up in court.”

The pair have previously worked

together, with Ms Fennell serving as executive producer of the second series of Killing Eve, before going on to win a best original screenplay Oscar for her debut film, Promising Young Woman.

Meanwhile, Ms Comer has built on roles in BBC dramas Doctor Foster

and Thirteen before finding fame and earning awards for her role of assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve.

On Friday last week, a High Court judge ruled in Mrs Rooney’s favour over her allegation that Mrs Vardy had leaked personal information about her to The Sun.

Mrs Vardy sued for libel, but Mrs Justice Steyn found the claim to be “substantially true”.

Mrs Vardy, who said the judge had “got it wrong” is now facing a legal bill of about £3 million, according to reports.
