New cafe to offer food and boards!
WILL OPEN IN CITY CENTRE
GAMES VENUE
A NEW board game cafe, offering hundreds of games to play, will be opening in Leicester in the autumn.
ReRoll is moving into the Granby Street premises formerly occupied by hair salon George’s Hairdressing.
The new business is being launched by board game enthusiast Sam Cunnington, who has amassed a collection of 380 games and plans to continue to add to it.
Visitors will be able to choose from a huge variety, from dependable classics such as Monopoly, Cluedo and Operation to campaign games such as Gloomhaven.
“It’s amazing, really, what you can play. Some of my personal favourites include a map-building game called Carcassonne, Azul where you essentially create a beautiful tiled wall, and a really fun tree-growing game called Photosynthesis,” said Sam, who has worked in retail and hospitality for the past 17 years.
He had hoped to open a cafe in 2020, but plans were put on hold due to the pandemic.
After finding the Granby Street property late last year, he is working hard to transform the former salon, on the upper floor of 36 Granby Street. He hopes to be ready to open by the end of September.
He said: “ReRoll will be a place for people to get together, get away from the screens and have some fun.
“Everyone is welcome, it doesn’t matter if you want to play a full campaign-style game over many visits or just come and relax with a coffee, slice of cake, and a quick game of something.”
ReRoll will be holding social gaming nights where customers can join groups to play board games. Weekly trading card game tournaments, such as Pokémon and Magic The Gathering, are also planned
Sam is looking for staff to help with the daily running of the cafe, “making bagels, pouring drinks, and creating lasting memories for our guests”.
He is also looking for a supervisor and an assistant manager.
