‘King Power are only owners for this incredible club’

-

KASPER Schmeichel has said he “would not want anyone” other than King Power running Leicester City, writes Luke Pawley.

Schmeichel, pictured, joined French club Nice this week on a three-year deal after 11 years at City, having been signed by Sven-Goran Eriksson in 2011.

When asked about the club he spent so much of his career with, he spoke in glowing terms and revealed one of his wishes for their future.

King Power have owned the club since 2010, led first by late chairman Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and then his son, Khun Top.

In that time, City have won the Championship, Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield - while reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

All of that happened under Schmeichel, who captained the club after Wes Morgan retired last year, and he spoke about his time on Filbert Way this week.

“I think they’re in the absolute best possible hands with Brendan. He’s an incredible manager,” Schmeichel told Sky Sports.

“Leicester are an incredible club with incredible owners. I use the word ‘incredible’ a lot when I talk about Leicester because that’s how I feel about them. I wouldn’t want anyone else running the club than them.”

Schmeichel is still waiting for his

Nice debut after he was an unused substitute for their opening Ligue 1 game of the season at the weekend, a 1-1 draw with Toulouse.

Nice boss Lucien Favre instead selected former Chelsea youth keeper Marcin Bulka, who was number two last season while on loan from PSG, and who signed permanently this summer.
