LEICESTER RESTAURANT WEEK MAKING A RETURN

- By BECKY JONES rebeccajones@leicestermercury.co.uk @JournoBecky

FOOD for all palates at prices to suit purses is promised when Leicester Restaurant Week returns.

Taking place from October 17 to 23, the event aims to shine a spotlight on some of the best eateries in Leicester and offer a feast of deals for diners.

Prices will be fixed at £5, £10, £15 and £20, with menus available for brunch, lunch and dinner.

More than 2,600 vouchers were downloaded by diners during the inaugural Leicester Restaurant Week in 2021, with exclusive menus available at 30 businesses – some of which were fully booked as diners hurried to make the most of limitedtime offers.

Restaurants already confirmed to return with deals this year include Sonrisa, Giggling Squid, Knight and Garter and The Rutland and Derby, with more to be announced – including some new names.

Organised by BID Leicester, Leicester Restaurant Week was set up to encourage people to support hospitality businesses. The timing, during October half-term, is designed to make it an affordable way for families and friends to dine out together.

BID director Simon Jenner said: “We are delighted to be bringing

Leicester Restaurant Week back for a second year.

“Last year’s event received great feedback from businesses and customers alike, showing a welldeserved boost in trade for our hospitality sector.”

“There will be even more great restaurants taking part this year, including some of the exciting new openings since last year’s event.

“Leicester is lucky to have a vibrant and diverse dining scene.

“Restaurant Week is a celebration of all these businesses that draw people in and enhance their experience of the city.

“The mouthwatering range of offers will be the perfect excuse for residents, workers and visitors to dine out this October.”

Sam Hagger, founder of The Beautiful Pubs Collective, said: “Our Restaurant Week menus at Knight and Garter and The Rutland and Derby were really popular last year.

“We saw a great uplift in trade throughout the week in both venues, with existing and new guests keen to make the most of us offering something a little different that is not available at any other time.

“I’d recommend any business owner to get in touch with the BID and get involved this year.

“Restaurant Week is a chance to get creative and showcase the best of your venue, knowing you have the support of a wider marketing campaign to help drive awareness.

“It’s a great way to attract new guests through your doors and show them what you have to offer while encouraging regulars to join you for an incremental visit.”
