Record growth for Midlands-based engineering company following Rotamec acquisition

THE ELECTROMECHANICAL SERVICE PROVIDER HAS MADE VAST IMPROVEMENTS THIS PAST YEAR FOR CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES

-

Following more than £100,000 investment since joining the Rotamec group, Midlands-based CovElec has been able to substantially increase its turnover and service in the past 12 months.

The investment has enabled the motor, gearbox and pump maintenance provider to improve many aspects of its operations which have had a direct impact on its recent success.

CovElec has increased its speed of response in the supply, installation, repair and maintenance of its rotating equipment, including 24/7 coverage, 365 days a year, and been able to

strengthen its team with five additional members of staff, including experienced engineers and a new branch manager.

And CovElec isn’t stopping there a first for the company, it’s also due to take on three apprentices in September.

Another way the the investment has made an impact is by providing CovElec with new workshop equipment and facilities, including updated ovens and tooling.

The improved workshop has a new layout which improves the efficiency of equipment flow through the repair and maintenance process, as well as offering better customer access with its newly extended parking facilities.

And speaking of driving, CovElec has also increased its transport for round-the-clock collection and delivery of customer equipment.

The leicester company has also taken on Rotamec’s best practices in engineering services, including the principles of iSo 9001, which have been implemented across the company’s three other branches in the south west and South wales.

This support from Rotamec has enabled the local company to increase its stock level of motors, gearboxes and pumps in order to improve the speed of supply for customers.

Rotamec group’s sales director, Paul Pearce, said: “The investment means that Covelec consistently provides a 24-hour call out service, every day of the year. new practices, reinforced by the experience and commitment of the whole Covelec team, have improved the speed and quality of service for facilities engineers across the Midlands and M1 corridor.”

As an ABB Value Provider for authorised motor repair and supply, the acquisition also means that Covelec now supplies a full range of engineering consumables with access to Rotamec’s supply chain and buying group membership.

Jon Bott, Covelec’s branch Manager, says: “Covelec has had month-on-month record growth, including new customers as well as those returning to us. This is because service has improved, including a faster, more efficient process for our customers. This has been achieved thanks to the commitment of the team, supported by the investment in existing staff, new members and facilities.”

“our aim has been to make CovEleca great place to work,” said Jon, “we’ve tried to bring everyone together towards the goal of improving the speed and quality of customer service. This has been achieved, and the results have been reflected in the increased customer demand.”

To do this, new personal equipment has been provided alongside development of engineers’ washrooms to further invest in staff facilities. improved health and safety practices have also been implemented to put an important focus on wellbeing, alongside inclusive, company-wide communication and engagement which has improved cohesion and teamwork.
