Vardy fit to face Robins and Ricardo may return
BUT NELSON AND CANNON RULED OUT OF ASHTON GATE FIXTURE
LEICESTER City will welcome back a fully-fit Jamie Vardy this Easter weekend and he could be joined by Ricardo Pereira.
Vardy has had a couple of minor injury issues over the past month and missed out completely for the FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea before the international break.
But he is fully ready to take on Bristol City tomorrow lunchtime (12.30pm kick-off ).
He could be joined in the squad by Ricardo, who has not played since the loss to Leeds at the end of February, and who has been a muchmissed presence in the team.
The Portuguese and Dennis Praet are both maybes for involvement at Ashton Gate.
Of the players injured before the international break, Kasey McAteer is the only player definitely still out, the winger still suffering with a hamstring issue.
But he has now been joined on the sidelines by Ben Nelson, who picked up an injury while representing England Under-20s, and Tom Cannon, who took a knock in training.
Speaking at his press conference yesterday afternoon, City manager Enzo Maresca said: “Kasey is still out. Jamie’s back. Ricky could be involved in the squad tomorrow.
“Dennis could be involved in the squad tomorrow. The only one 100 per cent fit is Jamie.
“Then Ben Nelson is injured from the national team and Tom Cannon got an injury during the international break.
“The problem with Kasey is the same as last time so we need to be careful with him so that he can come back and not get an injury again. Hopefully it can be soon.
“It’s a short injury (for Cannon). For sure he’s out for Bristol City and Norwich, but he could be back for Birmingham.
“(For Nelson), it could be a short injury.”
Maresca reported no further injuries among internationals, albeit some players were still making their way back to the club after representing their countries.
England Under-21s defender Callum Doyle won’t play at Ashton Gate after getting a one-match ban for his red card at Chelsea in the FA Cup.
