Attraction reopens for visitors

-

THE National Botanic Garden of Wales has reopened this week.

The attraction, located near the village of Porthyrhyd between Carmarthen and Cross Hands, has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But now the garden says that, with 568 acres to play with, it is confident social distancing can be adhered to and visitors can begin to enjoy what it has to offer safely once more.

This does not mean the garden experience will be exactly the same as people will have become used to in recent years, however.

The flow of visitors will be carefully controlled, meaning that there could be some queuing at certain points inside and outside the garden.

The venue is also asking people to be aware of other guidelines that it wants to implement as visitors arrived back from Monday, including leaving a whole space between your vehicle and the next vehicle when using the garden’s car park.

There are also enhanced cleaning regimes in force, including sanitising stations at the entrance and exit, and floor markings have been put in place throughout the garden to help individuals or households keep two metres apart.

Catering is limited, with only goods such as takeaway ice-creams and cold drinks for sale. However, there are sociallydistanced picnic benches in place if guests bring their own food and drink.

A spokesman for the National Botanic Garden of Wales said: “We are delighted to announce that we are open to the pubic again from Monday, July 6, and are open from 10am-6pm, seven days a week.

“Huge thanks to all our members, visitors, staff, volunteers, friends and everyone for sticking with us through these strange and difficult times.”
