Clerk ‘thrilled’ at community role
PEMBREY and Burry Port Town Council has a new clerk at its helm.
Huw Thomas has been appointed to the post of town clerk and responsible finance officer.
Mr Thomas has years of experience in senior management and financial control and is a local resident with a profound understanding of the community.
He attended Ysgol Gyfun Y Strade before studying accountancy in Swansea and is fluent in Welsh.
Councillor Lisa Mitchell, Town Mayor, said: “We are very fortunate to find someone with his experience and qualifications who is also born and bred in our community because a strong connection and a deep understanding of the people we serve is very important to the council.”
Commenting on his new role, Mr Thomas said: “I am thrilled and excited at the prospect of serving my own community in this post.
“We face a challenging future and it will be an honour to work with this forward looking council in doing all we can to respond to the days ahead.”
