In his report to community councillors he outlined his voluntary efforts by using speed eqipment each weekday between 6am and 8am before setting off to his work. On one occasion he recorded a car travelling at over 50mph beween parked cars along the unpaved residential road. He furnished daily figures showing a large number of drivers averaging 40 to 45 mph. He had been lobbying the county highways department to hold speed trials covering the stretch of road for many more hours per day. The problem has been highlighted for some three decades with no action taken to calm speeding. Councillor Selwood has supplied his findings to the highway management team and to county councillor Bowen for action to be taken before anyone is injured or worse.
