Appointments are ‘exciting step’ for club

-

SCARLETS Supporters Trust, Crys 16, have hailed the appointments of Simon Muderack and Sean Fitzpatrick as an “exciting step” for the club.

The trust have a seat on the board to ensure fans continue to remain informed and are looking forward to working with the pair following the news of their new roles with the Scarlets.

Simon Muderack is taking over as the Scarlets new executive chairman following the decision of Nigel Short to step down after nine years in charge, while All Blacks great Sean Fitzpatrick is to be a non-executive director and global ambassador.

A Crys 16 spokesperson said: “The transparency the club has demonstrated by inviting Crys 16 to sit on the Scarlets board has allowed us to see first hand the scale and complexity of the challenges our club faces, both pre and post Covid-19.

“The strength of our board and management teams has been a key factor in the Scarlets’ successes in recent times, and the challenges and opportunities we face continue to grow.

“We see the appointment of Simon as executive chairman as a natural and exciting step for the club to take at this time to ensure we continue to be equipped for the future.

“It’s fantastic to have someone of Sean’s calibre joining the board, his playing achievements and media work are well documented but we’re also excited about new perspectives he’ll bring from his experiences in rugby administration across the world, work with foundations and charities across several sports and ambassadorial work with some huge brands.

“We’re sure Sean will be a great addition to our already hugely experienced and focused board, giving supporters further confidence that the club continues to move forward with great ambition.

“We’d like to wish both Simon and Sean every success and look forward to working with them.”
