17 glamping pods at park
ALMOST 20 glamping pods could soon be introduced at Pembrey Country Park.
Plans have been put forward by the country park to put 17 removable glamping pods within a dedicated field on the campsite.
If given the go-ahead, each pod would fit up to six people and would be made from sustainable materials with a wooden look.
Pembrey Country Park is already home to 320 pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes, as well as two amenity blocks.
The proposal outlines plans to buy between two and four pods initially, before introducing the rest “over the following years”.
The statement reads: “The plan was always to offer different accommodation within Pembrey and the demand is apparent. The pods fit in with their natural environment and are made from sustainable materials; the wooden look will also blend with the new amenity block.
“Each pod also will house up to one family of up to five or six people.”
The country park explained that the addition of the pods would help to boost the number of visitors during the colder months.
It is hoped that the development would “increase the quality of offering” at the Carmarthenshire attraction.
The statement goes on to say: “Having these units will mean that we can not only meet the needs of the customers that do not have their own provision, but will also improve the occupancy levels of the site during the colder/wetter months.
“The campsite brings extra income to the local economy during the months that the campsite is open as they spend in local supermarkets, shops, restaurants, takeaways and visitor attractions so they would also benefit from the extra occupancy during our quieter months.”
