CROSS country runners from Taf Running and Orienteeri­ng have made a fine start to the 2021 season.

Men’s and women’s teams turned out for the second Gwent League fixture at Parc de Pugh in Brecon, and some athletes earned selection for the West Wales team in the Inter Regional Cross Country, which took place at Penlan Leisure centre, in Brecon the following weekend.

Most notable success for the club has been in the lowest and highest age categories. Under-11 junior Manon Phillips repeated her Gwent League fifth place with another strong fifth at the Inter Regionals, while team-mate Maisie Foster improved from 21st in the Gwent League to 10th the following week.

The Inter regional cross country saw Mel Holliday lead the West Wales team to victory with an individual F55 age category win.
