REES THE HERO WITH 79 BREAK

TYLER Rees’s potting prowess again came to the fore with a fine 79 break as Matchroom Whites took the club’s bragging rights after a 5-2 win against previously unbeaten Matchroom Reds.

The Reds’ winning pair were Andrew Rosser and Lewis Grey.

Dai Roberts, Wayne Bowen and Ashley Edwards added wins for the triumphant Whites.

It was closer at Pontyberem Workmen’s, the home side edging a 4-3 win against Gorseinon Workmen’s courtesy of Kev Selwood, Kieran Evans and P. Rees.

Mike Davies, Johnny Wilcox and Darren Williams replied.

K. Sullivan provided Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s solitary point from a 6-1 loss at Upper Tumble Blues. For the home side, M. Hughes, C. Rees, J. Bradley, E. Rees and N. Walters were all on top.

James White and Richard Nurse were on song for Burry Port Legion (Con Club) who defeated Snooker World Whites 4-3. Callum Jackson, Ben Thomas and John Meadow hit back for the Ammanford cuemen.

Dean Bowen, Mike Moore, Mark Sargent and Gavin Quinnell engineered a 5-2 win for Llanelli Cons A on their trip to Ponthenri Social, whose frame winners were Nigel Lewis and Jeff Howells.

Adrian Gower, Peter Kelly and Leighton Jones gave Burry Port Reading Room Blues an aggregate 4-3 success over Llandybie Social A. Lindsay Pugh, Wyn Major and Tim Walters won for the visitors.

Morfa were in good form with a 6-1 victory against Cross Hands B thanks to the efforts of Scott Ashford (38 and 37 breaks), Gavin Lewis (33), Rob Hughes, N. Hughes and A. Hatto.

Only Gary Stead’s frame averted the whitewash.

M. Stevenson and L. Lloyd were on song for Llanesco in a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Trimsaran, whose points came from C. Thomas, M. Foreman, W. Thomas and L. Holland.

In division two, Matchroom Blacks claimed a 5-2 win at Cross Hands A thanks to Dean Shoulder, Rhys Morgan, Ryan Maides and Tom Williams. Elwyn Williams and Gerald Evans struck for the hosts.

G. Thomas and W. Shadrach supplied frame wins as Pont Cons B sank to a 5-2 reverse against Reading Room Reds.

For the Burry Port side, T. Rawlings, J. Dean, C. Hurley and S. Gower all won.

CGMD’s good form continued as the leaders edged a 4-3 win against Bryn & Trallwm, with Wyn Llewelyn, Ray Evans and Matthew Jones winning.

L. Williams, J. Frater and E. Anderson hit back for visiting Bryn.

Carmarthen’s unbeaten Gremlin Club were 5-2 winners at Tycroes RFC B after J. Edwards, K. Gronow, L. Collins and G. Stollery all won.

M. Walters and T. Lewis won for the Rugby Club.

Martin Tucker (38 and 28), Gary Williams, Phil Eyers and Andrew John gave New Lodge B a 4-3 win at Llandybie Social B, who nicked the aggregate point after Howard Wood and Shaun Watkins supplied good wins.

In the cup, there were wins for Llandybie Social A (4-3 against Ponthenri), Bryn A (4-1 v BPRR Reds) and Trimsaran (5-2 against UT Reds).*
