Christmas afternoon tea On Tuesday from 2-4pm in the Memorial Hall this is hosted by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council with proceeds in aid of Cylch Meithrin, Burry Port. Cost £5 per ticket from council offices in the Memorial Institute on weekdays from 9am-3pm. Booking is essential.

Christmas Fayre Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council are hosting this at Pembrey Memorial Hall at 4pm on Friday. Free lantern-making for the children. At 6.30pm a walk by lantern light down to Randall Square for carols and the lights to be switched on. Come and join us in your Victorian costumes if you wish – there will be a prize for the best dressed!

Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1-3pm.

Harbour Music and Poetry meets every Monday at 7.30pm in Burry Port Yacht Club. It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills. It takes the form of open mic and special guests and audience are warmly welcomed.

Ty Golau Memory Problems Group We have resumed weekly sessions every Monday at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly, from 10.30am-noon. Social distancing is in place and we request that you wear masks until you are seated. Refresment­s are included in the cost of £5 for service users and £1 for carers. Pembrey and Burry Port Historical Society has resumed activities. Please note we now meet in the Ashburham Hotel at 7pm on the second Tuesday in the month. We won’t be having a guest speaker in December as it’s our annual Christmas meal.

Singing for the Soul This has started again on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 2-4pm in Jerusalem Chapel Vestry, Burry Port, where there is plenty of parking. The next meeting is today. New members are very welcome. Open to men and women, no experience or commitment required. With no expectatio­ns, judgements or auditions, we offer an afternoon of singing uplifting songs in a group of like-minded people. £3 each session including refreshmen­ts. There will be Covid safety measures in place. The venue requires us to wear a face covering while singing, either a mask or visor. Clear visors will be available to buy if you don’t already have one. Pembrey and Burry Port Garden Club are unable to resume their meetings due to extensive repairs taking place at the Community Hall, Pembrey, our regular meeting venue. The committee will meet in the new year to discuss resuming meetings.

Cefn Sidan U3A We are now back in the Pensioners’ Hall. Social distancing should be observed and masks should be worn where possible. Yoga is usually at 10.30am every Monday (except December 6 and 27 and other bank holidays) with Richard Rees at £4 per person per session. Please note yoga is no longer an official U3A activity but we will continue to advertise the meetings in our monthly programmes and encourage our members to support it. December meetings begin today with the Whist group meeting at 2.30pm in the Neptune. Tomorrow the Bus Pass Explorers go to Llandovery by the 9.20am bus. Friday is Keep Fit at 10.30am. Sunday Lunch on Sunday is at Diplomat/Stradey Park Hotel at 1pm. Monday the Strollers group is postponed for winter. Tuesday is the committee meeting at 10.30am. Wednesday, December 8 is the coffee morning at 10.45am. Please bring your own cup or mug and please remember take it home again and respect social distancing. Friday, December 10 is Keep Fit at 10.30am and the Crochet Group at 2pm. Monday, December 13 is work on the Station Garden at 10am. Tuesday, December 14, Square Dancing at 2pm. Wednesday, December 15 is the Quiz group in the Neptune at 2.15pm. Thursday, December 16 the Luncheon Club is going to the Bridge, Llangennec­h, at 1pm. Friday, December 17 is Keep Fit at 10.30am. Monday, December 20, the main meeting at 2.15pm is Christmas entertainm­ent. All the following groups are cancelled due to the Christmas and new year holidays: December 21, Welsh History and Short Walk; December 23, Discussion group, December 24, Keep Fit; December 27, Drama; December 28, Square Dancing; December 31, Creative Writing and Keep Fit. Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with Fairshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which will support residents in your area.The venue has changed to 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. Do you need to stretch your food budget a little further each week? Do you know someone who is finding times hard? £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20. No referrals required.
