Reindeer Parade a massive hit

-

CHILDREN and adults alike were wowed as Llanelli Reindeer Parade rode into Llanelli town centre.

The parade featured a host of familiar characters, from princesses to superheroes, community groups and bands – and even Santa Claus himself.

The event was organised by Ymlaen Llanelli, the town centre’s Business Improvement District (BID).

There was a crisp chill in the air as Côr Curiad took to the stage to begin the festivities, followed by The Voices choir, who kept up the Christmas atmosphere as people browsed the multitude of treats on offer at the market.

The parade from the Ffwrnes Theatre was led by Town Crier Rev Eldon Phillips and the Royal British Legion Band. The procession wound its way along Market Street, Bridge Street, Vaughan Street and Stepney Street before finishing in Spring Gardens, where people had the chance to meet the Cairngorm reindeer.

Other musical acts included The Thrillionaires and Llinos Watkins.

Ymlaen Llanelli chair Lesley Richards said: “It was just brilliant to see so many happy people in Llanelli town centre. We’re incredibly lucky to have such an amazing community supporting us, our events just wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you from everyone at Ymlaen Llanelli, and we’ll see you in 2022 for even more events!”

Ymlaen Llanelli BID manager Mandy Jenkins said: “The reindeer parade is one of our favourite events and we’re so glad we were able to bring it back this year. Everyone loved seeing the reindeer and meeting all their favourite characters, and we also saw loads of people following the maps for our Christmas Gingerbread Trail, so it was a great day of getting people into the festive spirit in our town centre.”

The Christmas Gingerbread Trail features 10 statues hidden around Llanelli town centre. Pick up a map from St Elli Centre and find all 10.
