Closure order after warnings

-

CARMARTHENSHIRE Council’s community wardens have successfully delivered a ‘closure order’ in Tyisha, Llanelli, which will help to reduce instances of anti-social behaviour in the area.

The order was actioned against an individual living in Tyisha following repeated warnings from Carmarthenshire Council and Dyfed-Powys Police due to instances of anti-social behaviour. The warnings were ignored.

The order means that the individual concerned cannot invite or allow access to any other person into their property or communal areas.

Breaking the order will result in immediate police action.

The exact location of the closure order has not been revealed.

Cllr Linda Davies Evans, chair of the Transforming Tyisha steering group and Carmarthenshire Council cabinet member for housing, said: “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Tyisha’s community wardens working in partnership with Dyfed-Powys Police, an excellent result has been achieved and will help to make Tyisha a safer place to live.

“The closure order will help to put the community at ease and stop any further anti-social behaviour from this individual.

“I would urge any residents experiencing anti-social behaviour to contact the police on 101.”

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “This is a clear message that, working with the local authority, we will do all that we can to disrupt anti-social behaviour within our communities and protect those who are directly affected by these individuals. The use of orders such as these are invaluable and we will continue to adopt and enforce such orders as appropriate.”

Tyisha’s community wardens are part of the council’s ambitious Transforming Tyisha project which looks to regenerate the area through increasing community safety, developing housing and community facilities and improving the environment.

Anyone can contact the community wardens by emailing tyisha@ carmarthenshire.gov.uk to raise concerns or to join the Neighbourhood Watch scheme. There is also a Safer Communities Action Group working in the area.
