Guards club’s £5k donation to hospital garden
THE Welsh Guards Rugby Reunion Club has made a donation of £5,000 to Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli.
The money will be used for improvements to garden areas, which will benefit the wellbeing of patients and staff.
The donation will help with two garden projects currently being developed, the stroke rehabilitation garden for ward nine and a reflection garden for ward one.
Sally Lloyd, lead occupational therapist at Hywel Dda University Health Board said: “This kind donation for our gardens will have a big impact on the health and wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors.
“Thanks to the improvements to the stroke rehabilitation garden, patients will be able to participate in gardening activities or just be in a quiet outdoor space which can be a break from the hospital environment and routine.
“Taking care of a plant can be close to having more control of their life and healing, focusing on nature allows a more positive outlook.
“While the reflection garden will enable patients to have a peaceful, therapeutic outdoor area and it will also be a bonus for staff, who have experienced a very difficult 18 months, to have some time out and remember all those who have passed through our doors.”

Reunion Club, said: “The Welsh Guards have an historical connection with Llanelli, with many local men serving in the regiment since our formation in 1915.
“Since 2003, the Welsh Guards Rugby Reunion Club has held its biennial dinner at the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli.

NHS during these unprecedented times and offer our profound thanks to all Llanelli NHS staff, who have cared for some of our members recently.”
