NARBERTH claimed a 30-23 win at Maesteg Quins in the Admiral National Championship.

The victory lifted them to sixth in the table.

Otters full-back Nick Gale opened the scoring, but the Quins moved up a gear to move 13-3 ahead. That lead was extended to 17 points early in the second half with another home try.

This seemed to galvanise Narberth and wing Ashley Sutton scored in the corner to reduce the deficit. Sutton then turned provider as his chip ahead was collected by scrum-half George MacDonald for another try.

The Quins added another penalty, but Narberth dominated from there, with Sutton crashing over in the corner. A try by Josh Davies – converted by Gale – put the visitors ahead and MacDonald rounded off a superb comeback with a try in the closing moments.

Newcastle Emlyn jumped up to top spot in One West after a 29-20 home win against Llangennech.

Gorseinon beat Aberystwyth 32-28. Llanelli Wanderers rose to mid-table thanks to a 31-7 bonus-point win at bottom club Penclawdd.

In Two West, leaders Burry Port see off visitors Mumbles 12-3. The win leaves Port on 42 points, seven clear of Nantgaredig, Kidwelly and Pontarddulais.

Lampeter Town and Aberaeron produced a high-scoring result in Three West A at North Road in Lampeter’s first competitive fixture for six weeks.

Lampeter won 31-24 to take them up to joint third in the table. Aberaeron are seventh.

The only other game in the division was the 17-17 draw between bottom club St Davids and Llanybydder.

Trimsaran won 39-29 at Llangadog in Three West B, while leaders Tumble beat struggling visitors Bynea 80-0.

Full-back Steve Hewitt led the scoring for Tumble with 31 points via three tries and eight conversions. Scrum-half Iwan Morgan also crossed for a hattrick, while wing Elis Lewis went one better with four tries. Hooker Dafydd Humphreys and flanker Owain Davies also crossed.

The Magpies are now just one win from clinching the title.

Llandeilo came from behind to register a fine 23-19 victory against visitors Amman United.

Tom Caddell landed a penalty for Amman, but the Ravens were soon level when Owen Phillips replied. Caddell’s second penalty success followed, before his side extended the lead when lock Craig Ratcliffe forced his way over. Caddell’s conversion made it 13-3.

Phillips’s penalty reduced the arrears, but Amman captain Joel Foster’s penalty gave his side a 10-point interval lead.

Phillips kicked a penalty as Llandeilo hit back after the break, but the hosts received a yellow card for a high tackle and Foster kicked the resulting penalty.

Llandeilo finished strongly, and full-back Will Charles-Davies went over. Phillips converted. Pressure on the Amman line saw No. 8 Matthew Davies crash over to give his side the clinching score.
