TEENAGER RALF STARS IN SHOCK

-

SIXTEENYEAROLD Ralf McGibney scored on his debut for Camford Sports as he helped his team to a shock 4-3 win at Premier division side Gorseinon Athletic in the Carmarthenshire League’s TG Davies Cup.

Joel Andrews netted twice in the Group E clash, while Rhys Thomas was also on target.

Group leaders Trostre AFC were awarded a 4-0 win and three points against visiting Gorseinon Athletic, and Drefach moved into second place after a 3-1 win in the Gwendraeth Valley derby against visiting Bancffosfelen.

For the first hour there wasn’t much to choose between the teams, but two goals in five minutes from Chris Gregory gave Drefach the edge.

Morgan Evans scored the first Drefach goal in the 12th minute.

The future looks bright for Burry Port, who started with six members of last season’s under-16 side in the 3-1 win against Evans & Williams Reserves in their away clash in Group A.

Goals from Jamie Fleming, Lewis Bunyan and Jarod Edwards secured the points for Port.

Llangennech strengthened their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages with a deserved 2-0 win at Dafen Reserves. After taking the lead through Tom Harris in the 17th minute, Craig Frater doubled the advantage three minutes from time.

Loughor Rovers beat Llangennech 4-1. Their scorers were Darrian Burt (2), Kurtin Russ and Dave McEwan. Craig Frater got a late consolation for Llangennech.

In Group B, Kidwelly Town made ground advantage count when defeating Johnstown 3-0. Striker Alex Kay bagged two of the goals, and there was one for Robert Hammond.

Leading 2-1 at half-time, West End United pulled clear in defeating visiting Caerbryn 5-2 in Group C. There was a hat-trick for striker Stewart Hemmingway.

Apart from being gifted an own goal, Rhys Blakeway also scored for the home team. Caerbryn replied with a penalty by Oliver Dymond and a Callum Jones strike.

Thanks to goals from Ross Jones and Callum Jones, Group D leaders Seaside kept their unbeaten record intact with a 2-0 win at Pontarddulais Town Reserves.

There was also action in the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League, and FC Carmarthen completed their division one programme on a good note when winning 4-0 at Bancffosfelen. The goals were shared equally between Tomos Walters and Jordan Archer.

FC Carmarthen followed up that midweek win with another, defeating neighbours Johnstown 4-2 in their away game. Archer scored two, and there were also goals for Walters and Oshaldo Thomas.

And FC Carmarthen clinched promotion from reserve division three following a dramatic 4-3 win at Bancffosfelen Reserves.

Hat-trick hero Carl Elsom grabbed the winner late in the game, and there was a goal for Ian Barrett.

Llangennech A finished off their league season with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Pembrey Reserves in their own backyard. Leeroy Bakasa broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, before Blake Kitching made no mistake from the penalty spot on the hour mark.

A hat-trick from Caerbryn Reserves striker Dylan Thomas wasn’t enough to earn his team victory against visiting Pwll Athletic Reserves, and they had to settle for a point in a 3-3 draw.

Burry Port Reserves made it three wins out of three in Group A of the

Darch Cup following a 3-1 win at Johnstown Reserves.

Striker Ceri Evans scored two and Charlie Taylor one for Port, but the downside is they have been deducted 12 points by the league.

Llandovery Town are through to the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup following a 3-2 win at home to Dafen Reserves.

And it was a well-deserved success for Llandovery, for whom Dan Pearce, Scott Price and Ryan Bailey scored the goals. Kieran Brown scored twice for Dafen.

Also through to the last eight are Camford Sports, who beat Evans & Williams Reserves 3-2 in their own back yard.

Striker Joel Edwards was again the star with two of the goals, and there was one for Shaun Dunn.

Penlan Club are champions of the inaugural West Wales Premier League, clinching the title in midweek with a 2-0 win at Giants Grave.

Penlan secured the points courtesy of goals from Luke Edwards and Darren Rowe.

In the only league game played on Saturday, a goal by Callum Palla earned Giants Grave a 1-0 win at home to South Gower.
