Car Boot Sale This Saturday at Ferryside Rugby Club, 8am start at £5 a car and £10 a van. Tables to hire at £2 subject to availabili­ty. Refreshmen­ts on site. These are held every first and third Saturday in the month.

Harbour Music and Poetry This Saturday a Music and Poetry Festival is to be held at Burry Port Yacht Club from 2-9pm featuring Irish folk band Rocky Road and support The Larks. Pembrey poet Sheila will also be appearing at the Yacht Club on Saturday when she will be reading from her new book which will be coming out next month. Admission free.

Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Come and meet best-selling author John Nicholl this Friday at 6pm. Signed copies available to buy and refreshmen­ts for a small charge. Space is limited so book your place by email to: lighthouse­libraryboo­k swaps@gmail.com at £3 to include a raffle ticket. Now open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Hours are Mondays 4-6pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, 2nd and 4th Fridays of month 9.30-12noon and 4-6pm, 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books, board games and jigsaws taken when open. There is a children’s cosy corner. Most items are free.

Coffee mornings These have resumed in Jerusalem Chapel vestry at 10.30am every first Tuesday in the month. All are welcome.

Short mat bowls The Pembrey and Burry Port club meet on Tuesdays at 7pm in the Pembrey Community Centre, Mountain Road, SA16 0AJ and invite you to try a free taster session. Any questions, please contact Mary our secretary on 07773 187347.

Meals on Wheels Provided by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council every Monday and Wednesday lunchtime a home cooked hot meal delivered to your door by volunteers. Delivery free to Burry Port and Pembrey postcodes. Main meal and dessert £5 per person. Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun. (The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm. Advisable to book due to available space and tables.)

Cefn Sidan U3A July meetings: today (Wednesday 13) at 10.45am the coffee morning with book swap available. Today is also the Quiz group in the Neptune at 2.15pm. Friday 15 the Cycle group meet at the Blue Mussels at the harbour at 10.30am. Also Friday 15, the Crochet and Arts/Crafts group meet at 2pm. Monday 18 is the main monthly meeting at 2.15pm with Tom Scrimgour on Coast Watch. Tuesday 19 at 10.30am is the Welsh History group talk by Colin James on The Rebecca Riots. Also Tuesday 19 is the Short Walk group at 2pm but a new leader is needed. Wednesday 20 the Quiz group meet in the Neptune at 2.15pm. Thursday 21 the Luncheon club are at the Stag, Five Roads, at 1pm. Friday 22 is the Creative Writing group at 2pm with John Bilsboroug­h. Please can we improve the turnout this month if you want this group to continue. Monday 25 the Drama group is at 2.15pm, new members urgently wanted. Tuesday 26 is the Silver Screen cinema trip by the 10.50am bus at cost of £3.50 if prebooked or £4.50, which includes a drink and biscuit.Thursday 28 is the discussion group at 2pm on the subject of “Does Our Heritage Matter?

Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with FareShare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which supports local residents. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20.
