Bowlers make their pitch for National finals berth

- Sunday fixture Division two: Cwmaman v New Lodge.

TOP-QUALITY action was in supply as bowlers competed in the semi-finals of the Carmarthen County competitio­ns at Parc Howard in Llanelli.

Winners in each of the discipline­s go forward to the National finals at Llandrindo­d Wells in August.

In addition, they will compete for the county titles which are being contested at Llanelli Bowling Club next week.

Those going forward are: Under-18 Singles: Owain Williams and Brychan Lewis (both Kidwelly Town).

Under-25 Singles: Ben Matthews (Graig Merthyr) and Josh Hancock (Carmarthen).

Over-60 Singles: Martyn Roberts (Llanelli) and Les Davies (Loughor).

Open Singles: Wyn Matthews (Graig Merthyr) and Phil Jones (Brynhyfryd).

Over-60 Pairs: Byron Wilkins and Bob Murawski (Llanelli); John Wilson and Byron John (Carmarthen).

Open Pairs: Dan Barnett and Robert Chisholm; Ashley Williams and Anthony Pritchard (all Parc y Dre).

Over-60 Triples: Byron Wilkins, Martyn Roberts and Bob Murawski (Llanelli); Les Davies, Nigel Cunnah and Ryan Jenkins (Loughor).

Open Triples: Vaughan Williams, Kelly Edwards and Sam Brown; Gareth Thomas, Paul Mason and Ross Davies (all Ammanford Park).

Over-55 Fours: Ian Davies, Martin Proctor, Keith Evans and Colin Jones (Kidwelly Town); Peter Davies, David Dobson, Syd Brice and Martin Watts (Brynhyfryd).

Open Fours: Tomos Bolton, Huw Thomas, Lee Walker and Steve Thomas; Gavin Rees, Jake Hancock, Mark Driscoll and Jordan Driscoll (all Graig Merthyr).

In the National Club Championsh­ip games played on Saturday, Loughor were narrowly defeated at home by Beaufort.

However, Ammanford Park continue in the competitio­n after a 19-shot win at Dunvant.

They now play at home against Resolven.

The Llanelli League continued for other clubs with Brynhyfryd and Llanelli both producing excellent results at the expense of Parc y Dre and Burry Port. Gorseinon gained a much-needed win against Parc William in division one, while leaders Tybie remained undefeated after winning at Calsonic Wanderers.

This week the Llanelli League holds its annual Festival Week, culminatin­g in the final rounds in Llanelli on Friday.
