Farmer ‘not sure’ when 500 cows were stolen
POLICE in New Zealand are investigating the theft of 500 cows from a South Island farm. It is not known when they began vanishing as their absence was only noticed recently. The farmer, from Canterbury, was too embarrassed to talk about it, according to friend Willy Leferink. He said the 500 milking cows, worth NZ$750,000 (about £400,000) could have been taken from the herd of 1,300 between early July and late August.
