Remy heads for Palace

-

CRYSTAL PALACE were today closing in on a deal to sign Loic Remy on a season-long loan from Chelsea, writes Giuseppe Muro.

Remy was at the Palace training ground this morning to finalise the move and Palace will have an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Manager Alan Pardew has been targeting another striker following the £27million signing of Christian Benteke from Liverpool and has made Remy his main target.

The 29-year-old does not fit in with new manager Antonio Conte’s plans for Chelsea and he has failed to make the squad for any of their first four games of the season.

Standard Sport revealed this month that Remy, who worked with Pardew at Newcastle, wants to stay in London.

Palace are also targeting a central midfielder and are interested in James McCarthy from Everton.

Palace remain adamant Wilfried Zaha will not be sold and intend to reject any further offers from Tottenham.

Spurs had a £14m bid turned down last week and Palace chairman Steve Parish has made it clear the 23-year-old winger is not for sale.

Palace have allowed Freddie Ladapo to join Oldham on loan until January, while Sullay Kaikai is set for a loan move to a Championship club.
