FORMER teenage pin-up David Cassidy has revealed he is suffering from dementia after he forgot the words to his songs while performing on stage.

The singer and actor, 66, told People magazine: “I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming.” The disease also affected his late mother Evelyn Ward.

Fo r m e r Partridge Family star Cassidy said he had decided to stop touring to concentrate on his health.

“I want to focus on what I am, who I am and how I’ve been, without any distractions. I want to love. I want to enjoy life,” he added.

His comments came after he struggled to remember words to some of his old hits at concerts in California last weekend. At one point, he appeared to fall off the side of a small stage.

Cassidy’s hits Cherish and I Think I Love You won him a legion of adoring fans in the Seventies.
