LIV TYLER is brushing up on British history for her latest project — a BBC drama about the Gunpowder Plot.

The American actress starts work today on the three-part mini-series, which focuses on the events leading up to the failed plot to kill King James I at Parliament in 1605.

Tyler, 39, was at model Natalia Vodianova’s Fabulous Fund Fair in Camden last night. She told the Standard: “I have to go up tomorrow to Yorkshire to start filming. I’m enjoying learning about the period, London in the 1600s, the Catholics and the Protestants.

“Obviously I’ve heard people talk about Guy Fawkes and I was here this year for Bonfire Night, but I never really knew what it meant. There was so much more to the plot than just Guy Fawkes, but that’s the guy that everyone knows about.

“The process of film and TV making here is so nice — there is something very free about it. Everyone is very skilled in their jobs no matter what department they are in, and there is something very brave and liberating about the way everyone works. It’s not so contrived.”

The drama also stars Game Of Thrones actor Kit Harington and Sherlock star Mark Gatiss.

Tyler has a home in north London with her fiancé, British football agent David Gardner, and the couple have two children together — daughter

Lula, seven months, and twoyear-old son Sailor — as well as a son each from previous relationships. The star said: “I will always be a New Yorker at heart but I am enjoying London so much. A lot of my best friends I grew up with in New York were English, so I have a really nice ffoundation.dti MMy goddaughter,d who is now 21, is here, a lot of family friends. With my babies it’s really nice to have parks and be a little bit more spread out. There’s a lot more space here and it’s beautiful.”

Tyler, who is about to release a new capsule collection for English fashion label Belstaff, was among a host of celebrities who attended last night’s charity gala at The Roundhouse, which was transformed into a funfair with a carousel centrepiece designed by artist Camille Walala.

Vodianova co-hosted the event with fellow model Karlie Kloss, and guests included D a me K r i s t i n S c o t t T h o ma s , Dynamo, Erin O’Connor, Clara Paget, Pixie Lott and Yasmin Le Bon. The evening raised £1.3 million for Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation.
