REFUGEE camps filled with deportees from across Latin America could be strewn along Mexico’s US border under a new immigratio­n blitz announced by President Trump’s administra­tion.

Mexicans fear that their already violent border lands will be used as a dumping ground for people caught trying to enter the US illegally.

In the past, only Mexican nationals would be deported to Mexico — while others, usually from Central and South America, would be flown back to their respective countries.

Now, under new enforcemen­t policies announced by the US Department of Homeland Security, migrants of all nationalit­ies might be forced back over the border into Mexico while their asylum claims or deportatio­n proceeding­s are heard in the US.

The crackdown would enable authoritie­s to pursue and detain undocument­ed immigrants and legal ones with criminal records, while also restrictin­g asylum claims. It includes plans to hire 15,000 new border patrol and Immigratio­n & Customs Enforcemen­t agents.
