Russia’s supreme court orders release of activist
A JAIL sentence imposed on a Russian opposition activist was today overturned by the country’s supreme court.
Ildar Dadin, 34, who was jailed for two and a half years in December 2015 over anti-government protests in Moscow, was the first person to be convicted under Russia’s tough new law on demonstrations.
The court ordered the release of Mr Dadin, who has claimed he was tortured in prison. It said he had a “right to rehabilitation”.
