Laughing matter
RED Nose Day, the flagship fundraising event for Comic Relief, has become a British institution since it was first held in 1988. Evening Standard readers have been doing their bit to raise money and today Comic Relief announces it is to give £1 million to the Standard’s Dispossessed Fund. This brings the total amount raised by the Fund since its 2010 launch to nearly £18 million and means groups tackling social exclusion around the capital will benefit from new grants. Laughter never had a greater purpose than it does today.
