Big buns banned by TfL

-

THE Girls, the Gary Barlow musical based on the hit film Calendar Girls, is breaking box-office records but its cheeky content isn’t going down so well down underground. The Londoner is told that plans for an advertising campaign on the Tube have been scuppered after two of the proposed images were rejected by TfL.

One of the banned shots, shown here, features cast member Claire Machin tickling the ivories in the buff. Another displayed a little too much flesh for the censors’ liking.

It’s not the first time a risqué advertising campaign has fallen foul of TfL’s code of conduct. Last year comedian Jenny Eclair complained that posters showing her in her underwear had been rejected, while the controversial Are You Beach Body Ready? posters were permitted.

But the show must go on, and the campaign will run once certain amendments have been made. “We’re going to take the tit out,” producer David Pugh despairs, “and make the arses smaller.” Whatever happened to needing considerably bigger buns?
