‘White van madman’ hunted by police

- Matt Watts

THE driver of a white van is being hunted by police after going on a crazed rampage in London.

CCTV footage shows him veering into the path of oncoming traffic then repeatedly ramming another vehicle.

Police say the drama began when he filled up his van with petrol at a Shell garage in Cheam Road, Sutton, and sped off without paying on February 23.

He was filmed veering on to the wrong side of Manor Road, Wallington, time and again — narrowly missing several cars coming the other way.

In the footage the van is later seen coming up to a Peugeot doing a U-turn in Woodcote Road, Wallington, slowing down and then repeatedly ramming the side of the car — at one point lifting its wheels off the road.

After driving around the Peugeot, the van driver then reverses into it several more times. His vehicle is later shown speeding across a crossroads as the lights turn red.

Police released the shocking footage online and also an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the offences. He is described as white and aged about 25.

The Met said: “We’d urgently like to trace him. If you have any information or know who he is please call us on 101.”
