An ugly vendetta plays out over the beautiful game

Football fans will have seen robberies at stadiums over the years, games snatched in the 97th minute with the first shot on target from the opposition, though few will have witnessed an actual robbery — that Man U Champions League victory in 1999 aside.

There’s so much money sloshing around football’s boardrooms that one team’s directors have to store it in a safe within the stadium, which makes their club a target for a bunch of thieves in this stocky thriller. In a display of fraternity that would be welcome more often between rival hooligans, a group of blokes who enjoy chucking white plastic furniture across European squares unite for a shakedown of this easy money.

Against the norm, the heist is a success and Jimmy (Kris Johnson), Ronnie (Gary Finan), Jack ( James Groom), and Chris (Lee Hatch) part with their earnings. However, when Ronnie’s later arrested and sent down, he leaves prison convinced he’s been grassed-up and is ready to extract revenge with interest…
