Jail for friend of ousted South Korea president
A COURT in South Korea has sentenced a long-time friend of ousted president Park Geun-hye to three years in jail for using her connection to get her daughter into a prestigious university. Seoul central district court said Choi Soon-sil pressured Ewha Womans University to grant admission and give academic favours. Choi is being tried separately over allegations that she colluded with Park to take bribes from big corporations.
