KEGWORTH COMMUNITY LIBRARY. Today and every alternate Wednesday after, we will be playing games in the library.

Board games, card games, jigsaws and more. Come along during library opening hours (2.30pm – 4.30pm) and join in.

If you’ve got a favourite game at home that you’re particularly good at then bring it along and see if anybody can challenge you !

On Saturday, March 18, following its success during our first anniversary celebrations, we have another coffee, cake and cards sessions (10am – 12.30).

This will feature the delightful greetings cards from Kegworth Cards, who are very generously giving 15 per cent of the takings to the library to help with our running costs.

On Wednesday 22 March at 7pm, why don’t you come and try EmbarrasSING, our fun singing group for adults who thought they couldn’t sing but are now finding out they maybe can!

A great variety of songs, backed by our great new sound system, make an evening that is proving very popular and enjoyed by all. Just £2.00.

Visitors have been very impressed with our new Book Shop.

All the books are in excellent condition, some being brand new and therefore unread. Please support your local library by popping in to browse the amazing stock on offer and all are just £1.

Urgent! Now that work is underway on the East Midlands Gateway (Strategic Rail Freight Interchange) the developers, Roxhill, have identified several parcels of land with no known owner that fall within the development.

We have the details and maps deposited at the library by Roxhill’s solicitors but we only have them for a limited time, so if you think you may be affected please come down to the library and take a look.

FAMILY DAY FOR ASHTON KING. Support is being canvassed for a special Family Day being organised in Kegworth next month to raise funds for an 11 year old boy who suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Ashton King, born in Kegworth but now living in Barton in Fabis and a pupil at East Leake Lantern Lane school, is a very popular young boy but who struggles every day to do the things most people take for granted.

In an effort to make things better for him funding is taking place to allow an adaption at his home to make caring for him easier.

His mum Katie says presently she has to check on Ashton every hour during the night in case he has a seizure and which means he cannot sleep downstairs.

Mum says the need is for a through-the-floor lift so her son can go upstairs and move around the house freely.

The council will give some help towards the required work but not enough for all the adaptions needed.

His mum says Ashton is a warrior and who makes her heart burst with pride and she is appealing for help to make it possible for her to make his fight a little easier.

The Family Day event is on April 9 at Kegworth Village Hall from 12noon to 4pm and will include an Easter Egg Hunt, an Easter theme for stalls and games, a raffle to be drawn on the day add a colouring competition, entry forms for which are available at the Kegworth Post Office and a Cryptic Quiz, with forms at £1 also available from the Post Office.

There is also a Fun Run on the day and details on this can be obtained from Anita on 07902 413431 or email on anitaking@virginmedia.com
