Networking event aiming to help town businesses

-

A SELF-EMPLOYED Shepshed man has organised a networking event to help other businesses in the town.

Will planner Graham Cox recently established his own business - Lions Guard Will and Estate Planning - and decided to set up the Shepshed Business Networking Event to allow other local owners to make new contacts, promote their companies, and gain new ideas.

The event will take place at the Pied Bull in Belton Street on Monday, March 27 from 6pm.

Mr Cox told the Echo: “I’ve lived in Shepshed all my life and for the majority of my career I have worked for other people but fairly recently I started my own business.

“I have attended networking events in other places which can often be very expensive, especially for small business owners.

“So because there wasn’t anything like that to my knowledge in Shepshed, I have arranged something which I hope will be successful and something we can do repeat- edly if it works.

“The idea is that it gives an opportunity for business owners in the locality to get together to discuss marketing ideas, maybe get some inspiration about ways of growing their business.

“Networking allows you to exchange ideas and make new contacts which will help your business grow.

“There could also be the opportunity to form partnerships. For example, an electrician and a plumber might be able to work together on certain projects.

“If other businesses know about you and your business then they are much more likely to recommend you to others and vice versa.

“I want this to be something easy, relaxed and accessible to everyone and hopefully if it’s successful we can try and do it on a regular basis.

“I’ve already got plenty of people confirmed as attending so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Attendance is free but please register your place by emailing gcox@lionsguardwills.co.uk
