Youngsters receive glowing letter from the publisher of book topic

-

YEAR 4 children at Newcroft Primary Academy have received a glowing letter from the publisher of their current topic book.

Pupils have been reading Nelson Mandela’s Favourite African Folktales and sent letters to Edward Crutchley of publishers W.W.Norton & Company to share their views.

A Newcroft spokesperson said: “Mr Crutchely thanked the children for their “wonderfully persuasive and beautifully written letters”, remarking how important a well written letter is - even in the age of iPads and phones!

“He wrote that he was hugely impressed by the children’s enthusiasm for folk tales and stories about Africa, and even spoke about his own experience growing up in 1960 South Africa under Apartheid.

“Mr Crutchley remarked that the children “have all put my handwriting to shame”, and has encouraged us to keep up our hard work!

“He has also offered to send us a copy of a different folktale book for the school library, which we cannot wait to read!”
