This business of ‘so many pounds and 99p’ is a con

-

THERE are lots of ways con artists try to get their hands on our hard gotten money and we are told frequently to be on our guard against them but there is one way that is perfectly legal and although it doesn’t amount to hundreds of pounds it still comes as a bit of a shock when it happens.

There are now hundreds if not thousands of retailers selling goods or postage and packing at so many pounds and 99p.

Apparently when we read the price and get to the 99p bit we have forgotten the amount in pounds!

My advice is easy to do and could make you realize that you are probably paying more than you thought or can afford .

Whatever the price is if it ends in 99p or even £99 just add the extra 1p or £1 and round the price up to a nice round figure .

There are many shops that regularly advertises goods at say under £300 . Well I suppose that £299.99p is under £300 and it sounds less but surely it would make accounting a lot easier if prices were rounded up so there must be a good reason for doing it! I wonder what it is ?
