The system encourages selfish techniques

-

I WRITE in reply to the letter recently published in the Echo by name and address supplied’ which was written in response to my original letter “Two into one doesn’t go” concerned with the traffic difficulties associated with two lanes of traffic around the Forest Road island on Epinal Way

The original letter did generate some positive agreements with my concerns however ‘ name and address supplied ‘goes on to claim that my concerns are related to the fact that I am obsessed with queue jumping. I am not obsessed with queue jumping but I am against queue jumping in any form.

I think that queueing is a civilised way of ensuring that people are able to obtain their fair share.

I believe that the forming of queue can be related back to WWII when people did form queue in order to ensure that they got their fair share of the rationed material that were available.

Having travelled fairly widely and experienced other societies where queueing was not so prevalent difficulties can arise. Then those with the biggest bodies, the sharpest elbows and the most aggressive manners are more able to achieve success.

This takes me back to some aggressive selfish driving techniques used by some people along Epinal Way as they make their way with little or no consideration for fellow drivers such drivers having used the system to gain advantage seek to get back inline in a dangerous and aggressive manner. Hence causing a queue which can block of traffic wanting enter or exit from Forest Road.

I do feel that the present road marking where a short stretch of Epinal Way encourages two lanes of traffic for a short distance does encourage selfish and potentially dangerous driving techniques to queue jump.
