Tale of the Luddites
LOUGHBOROUGH residents are invited to hear the retelling of the story of the infamous Luddite attack on Heathcoat and Boden’s Mill in Loughborough in 1816.
From Friday, March 24, to Sunday, March 26, locals are welcome to join Chorus Theatre as it embarks on a collective project with Charnwood Arts with support from Loughborough University and Charnwood Borough Council, titled The Last of the Luddites.
The new play features original songs, music and a dramatic interpretation of the events of 200 years ago - and it will all be performed in a pub.
The Luddites met in pubs to plan their activities so what better venue to present the story.
Performances will take place in The Hop Loft, upstairs at The Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough, at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Sunday, March 26.
All tickets are £4 and can be reserved by calling Charnwood Arts on 01509 822558 or alternatively by emailing Chorus Theatre at office@chorustheatre.co.uk
