Two charged with murder
TWO men have appeared in court charged with murdering a man who was found with a fatal stab wound in a car in Shepshed.
Timothy Smith, 45, who is originally from Oxfordshire but had moved to Tamworth, was found in a silver Ford Focus on an industrial estate off Gelders Hall Road at around 9pm on Thursday (March 16).
A post-mortem examination later determined he had died as a result of a stab wound.
Mark Law, 20, of Sandringham Rise, Shepshed, appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 20 charged with murder.
A 17-year-old male from the Shepshed area, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also appeared in court accused of murdering Mr Smith.
Neither of the defendants entered a plea and both were remanded in custody.
Chairman of the bench Jean Anderson referred the case to Leicester Crown Court.
Law is to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday, April 18.
The 17-year-old was due to appear before Leicester Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday, March 21) to make an application for bail.
Mr Smith’s father spoke of his son over the weekend in a statement issued through the police.
Derick Smith, 66, who lives in Oxfordshire, said: “I cannot adequately express in words how deeply shocked and saddened I am to learn of his death.”
