New app is proving a big success
A NEW app, designed by a Loughborough student, has launched in the town and has already been downloaded hundreds of times.
And what’s even more impressive, the man behind the idea confesses to know nothing about computers!
Lee Quinn, 35, is the brains behind Capacity; an app that aims to let users know instantly how busy a venue is if they are planning a restaurant meal with family or a night out at a bar with friends.
And it will even tell users if there are spaces at the car park.
Lee, who is studying for a degree in Sports Coaching, said: “The app seems to be doing well, we’ve had about 500 downloads and have about 1,000 people following us on social media.
“We have about 14 businesses using the app including John Cooper’s, the Bell Foundry, Wild Lime and Meet Burger.
“And it’s free for businesses in Loughborough to join.
“The idea for Capacity had been in my mind for a long time and with lots of support from people like my tutor at the college, Joe Hatwell, I have been encouraged to pursue it.
“So just over a year ago, I advertised for developers in Loughborough and found Haydn Gately and Robert Deans.
“Venue owners provide live updating, for example through door clicker systems, with users able to rate them on the app for their reliability.
“We’re hoping to expand to Leicester in about six weeks.”
The app, which is available to download on iTunes and Android, allows users to view: how busy a place is, any special offers, and the establishment’s website.
