CK Dons produce upset to book place in Cobbin Trophy final

ON Tuesday night Division Two side CK Dons pulled off a surprise win defeating Division One Side Sporting Markfield to book their place in this year’s Automedia Printers Cobbin Trophy against East Leake FC on Thursday, May 4, going through 3-1 on pens after a 1-1 draw after extra time.
Callum Tyndall putting the Dons in front early in the first half with Niall Smith equalising in the 87th minute to take the game in to extra time and the win on penalties.
Inter League Cup Group A, Mountsorrel Amateurs won 3-1 away at Birstall RBL, Sam Squire (2) and Jack Hesketh with the Ammies goals. In Group C Holwell Sports DT lost 3-1 at home to Dunton & Broughton United Reserves, Mark Tinsley with the Holwell goal.
In the Windmill Trophies Division Three Loughborough Emmanuel kept up their promotion hopes with a 3-2 win away at Woodhouse Imperial Reserves, leading scorer George Thomas with a brace and Dan Orme for Emmanuel, Jon Dixon and Paul Raybould for Woodhouse. Sileby Victoria Reserves won 3-1 away at Shepshed Amateurs Reserves, Joe Wardle (2) and Alan Chater for Sileby, Johnny Blackett for Shepshed.
On Saturday, in the Premier Cup Group A East Leake FC hit six without reply against Caterpillar, Liam Thompson (2), Kyriakos Kiriakopoulos (2), Matt Jelley and Jacob Consterdine with the East Leake goals. In Group B Sutton Bonington Academicals drew 1-1 with Ravenstone United, Joe Fitzsimmons for the Accies, Dan Pink for Ravo.

Sporting Markfield win 3-1 away at Mountsorrel Amateurs Reserves, Ian Allen (2) and Ben Cooper for Markfield, Kris Atkinson-Hines for Mountsorrel. Belton Villa beat Caterpillar FC Reserves 4-2, Gaz Mills, Ashley Farmer, Oli Meadows and Alec McKenzie for Belton, Aaron Pickering and Simon Bailey for Caterpillar.
Kegworth Imperial are the Sports Advocate Division Two Champions after a 4-3 win away at CK Dons, Jordan Davies (2), Joe Reynolds and Jake Green on target for Kegworth, Jamie Keighley, Kieran Hand and Ryan Young for the Dons. Shelthorpe Dynamo Reserves claimed the runners up spot with a 2-0 win against FC Coalville, George Vernon bagging a brace for Shelthorpe.
Windmill Trophies Division Three leaders FC Polonia lost 4-1 away at Sileby Victoria Reserves, Alan Chater, Ramone Pemberton, Remi white and Scott Robinson for the Vics Reserves, Damian Czahuk for Polonia. East Leake Robins closed the gap on Polonia to two points with two to play with a 2-0 win at home against Shepshed Amateurs Reserves, Tom Harrigan and Nick Dyer with the Robins goals.
Loughborough Emmanuel won 5-1 away at Shepborough United, Charlie Patel (2), Rich Cowlishaw, Matthew Duxberry and an own goal for Emmanuel, Kyle Askew for Shepborough. Goals from Layton Weston (3), Jamie Smith (2), Alan Barrett, Mark Finley and Tom Belton gave Loughborough FC ‘A’ an 8-0 win at home to Loughborough United Reserves.
